Starscream, a character from Transformers and Transformers Revenge of The Fallen, was trying to rebel against Megatron but was refused tattoos. In the comics, after Megatron’s death in 2007 in Mission City Starscream searched for any Decepticon survivors, but he only found Barricade and he told Barricade that the Allspark is destroy and so was Megatron . After that Barricade told Starscream that Frenzy has gone missing his energy signatures were last detected in the Hoover Dam . Starscream realized that if Frenzy has data about all knowlegde of the Cybertronian race then he can rebuild the Allspark . Then Starscream took of and attacked the Hoover Dam and retrieved Frenzy’s dead body but the information was still alive . So when Starscream got Frenzy he kidnapped one of the main agents of Sector 7 as a hostage and left Earth and it’s orbit . The kidnapped human died inside Starscream’s alt mode due to the lack of oxygen in space . Starscream returned to the Nemesis on Mars ( in the comics there are 2 main Decepticons Battle Cruisers both named the Nemesis . There was one which left Cybertron even before the War but Megatron was still rising to power commanded by Soundwave this ship was present in Revenge of the Fallen . The second Nemesis left Cybertron during the final battle of the War For Cybertron, when Autobots launched the Allspark into space from Cybertron and Megatron went after it and much later this one was the one which crashed on Mars ). There he was greeted by Thundercracker who ordered the drones to repair Starscream . Starscream told the story of the Allspark and the death of Megatron and explained his plan to Thundercracker .
He’s an alien robot. They can change colors. This is made evident multiple times throughout the Bayverse. Optimus, Bumblebee, Megatron, Sentinel, Ratchet, Hound, Drift, Mudflap, Skids, Soundwave, Laserbeak, and (arguably) Barricade have all changed colors at least once, proving they can do it as they please. Optimus has specifically shown that they can even alter the pattern of their colors, as he scans the white Western Star and adopts flames that are fairly different from the flames on his previous forms. Not to mention the fact that neither of the trucks he was shown scanning had flames to begin with. It’s not impossible or unlikely that Starscream simply changed his colors to add the “tattoos” himself. He could have probably added whatever design he wanted onto his body as he pleased
Awesome article. That actually kind of makes sense, as he was rewarded for being a strong leader and getting Markings to identify him as a Commandung or Leader Decepticon. My theory is he earned them by by getting kills and helping Megatron so he was rewarded for standing by Megatron’s side and not betraying him so he was rewarded with tattoos that said honor warrior and brave but that’s between the timeline of 1 and 2 where he earned his tattoos b just like how people in clans get tattoos on their body or symbols on their body for being loyal
Pretty good standout points to a very questionable detail. I always thought Starscream got those tattoos due to letting Megatron get killed in the first film. I originally thought “The Fallen” was furious by Starscream letting his student die when Starscream himself was the second in command and possibly given the burden of not letting any irreversible harm come to him. So I originally thought he got those tattoos as a mark of punishment for letting Megatron die, and they are meant as a mark of shame.

I always wonder where did the nemesis crashed landed at also misopportunity here to have trypticon in the live action cinematic universe I mean same could be said about omega supreme of being the ark either that or both the ark and omega supreme are two different things but any how the ark being completely destroyed in TF TLK of course but yeah would’ve love to see a live action approach of what happen in the war for and fall of cybertron games but hey maybe if bumblebee is a big success in the box office we may get more movies and the possibility of getting new unseen characters like trypticon and omega supreme respectfully and the one I’m definitely looking forward to seeing and I highly doubt they would do it is astrotrain I mean him being a big triple changer like shatter and dropkick in the bumblebee prequel solo film and not only that big enough to transform into his spaceship mode and fit cybertronians inside him yeah imagine that in live action almost has that beggining scene off of star wars the force awakens vibes yeah where the first order stormed the village. That’s actually a good (if not kinda outlandish) theory about how his voice changed. I always thought that maybe his Vocal unit was damaged during the Battle for the AllSpark and that may have caused a slight adjustment to his voice. As for Megatron, maybe water corrosion had effected his own vocal unit.
I personally think the change in his voice is more do to the fact the deeper voice was caused by him not speaking any human languages until that point, so his vocal processors hadn’t adjusted yet, hence the mechanical tone in it. While by the time of ROTF, he’s interacted with enough humans for his voice to properly adjust and what we hear in ROTF through DOTM is his real voice as his cybertronian speech in the first movie does sound high pitched in comparison to the others. The reason why Megatron didn’t have too much trouble with his voice adjusting I’d say is because he had to listen to humans talking for the past 100 years (eyes are shown glowing while he’s frozen at least in one shot if I recall), so he knows the ins and outs of at least English. It also explains why he immediately bellows his name upon being freed in english and not cybertronian.
I have another theory why starscreams voice may have changed, as we see megatron attacks starecream in rotf many times, maybe megatron hit starscreams voice box causing it to become slimy and causing him to spit a lot. I just realized about Megatron’s voice. I don’t think it was the g force that changed it but rather the 2 years in the crushing depths of the ocean. Because He surpassed the g force stage when he was chasing the allspark and did it again when he was going to the Nemisis. So it means his body CAN withstand the speed power but not the crushing power of the ocean, which gave Megatron that grimacing, but not deep, voice we know today.
I like the 2007 version the best. Sounds much cooler and more menacing imho. Same for Megatron through ROTF and DOTM. Alot of G1ers might get pissed at me for this, but I think Hugo Weaving was a much better fit for Meg’s movie incarnation. To me Frank Welker’s voice just didn’t have that intimidating presence like Weaving’s did.
The reason why starscream voice changes is because maybe he keeps losing his sanity for example in the first movie he was normal but evil in the ROTF he was a bit crazy in DOTM he loses his sanity if u seened the seen were sam kills starscream u can hear him taunting sam and carly and spitting and when he gets his eyes poked he seems to lose it but this is were it gets crazy in ROTF megatron gets his eye shot off by prime and u can see him saying my eye but he doesnt scream like starscream did and when starscream died he said ill kill u like a sphycopath woukd say.
You know the real reason why his voice changed is because of voice recording equipment and not to mention voice actor’s, the actor’s that voice these character’s age and their voice’s will change as they grow old, even Optimus Primes voice has changed a bit and I’m quite surprised that nobody has noticed that.

I have a theory about the final battle in transformers 1. Remember how starscream was attacking jets and starscream destroyed some of the jets but there was only 3 jets left and 1 jet was in front of starscream and 2 behind and I think starscream killed that guy in front of him but the 2 behind him survived bcuz I think they are the one’s who shot at Megatron and they escaped from starscream bcuz since they were behind of him they were able to get better shots at him and starscream being starscream just left the battle .
Actually, his voice changed because they modified all the VA voices to be deeper and more robotic for the movies. Hugo Weaving’s voice is deep, but if you ever watched a interview with him, it isn’t as throat wrenching as Megatron. Same goes for Jess Harnell and Barricade. Starscream voice was changed to be deeper and more aggressive, but Michael Bay must have wanted Starscream to sound more like his previous incarnations of having a higher, annoying pitched voice; so they didn’t modify it afterwards.
Besides the cool theory it just shows the laziness after awhile. In the first film they had cool robotic filters and deep voices but then they didn’t even try to do that. Although with Charlie they asked him to give a more classic performance. But Even the game did that better with Daniel Ross’s Starscream, he did a great job mixing both a G1 style voice with a deeper menacing voice which had a great result, in the ROTF game they got some guy who had Batman throat cancer (jokes) and gave no filter… everytime single time they got on track something ripped up the rails

hey I have a theory: you now when prime first tells from megatron and there we see him in this lying pose but how did the humans get him into the standing pose later in the sector 7 base? because we see him recking everything even when the ice smelt only a bit so how did they even got him out of the ice and transportet him??? and even though he chrashlanded he was still strong because when he fell on the hard ground from the building it effected him by no means and the ice is not so hard to fall on so that is sure not the explanation for that.but what is it??? So wait pi just rewatched tf dotm and berrcaid was holding bumblebee but then killed q/whelljack so how did sound wave get bumblebee and berrcaid get q would it make more sense to do berrcaid but then when the ships fell berrcaid was pinned by the ships so soundwave had to fight bumblebee then as the fight was happening berrcaid got shot in the eye then he transformersed and drive away
I’m sure everybody knows this, but screw it, I’m gonna embarrass myself. Your theory is very good for an in universe explanation for why Starscream and Megatron sound different, but (obviously) Michael Bay stopped modulating Starscream’s voice (I assume he used a voice changer because that’s the only explanation I can think of) because he didn’t want to make a sequel at first, but everybody loved it, so when the sequel came out Starscream sounded like his original character because it’s what the fans want.
I honestly don’t hear that much of a difference between Megatron’s voice between the films. I Also preffered Starscream’s First movie voice, It sounded badass and threatening, but i understand why they changed it.
