What Annoys A Tattoo Artist?

Tattoo artists often face frustrations from clients that can complicate the tattooing process. Some of the most disliked requests include tattoos in light colors or pastels, racist or offensive designs, and tedious tasks. Artists grow weary of fads that were once trendy but are now overdone, as well as dealing with specific clients who create anxiety. The piece of advice to clients is to avoid bringing too many friends, as it can lead to distractions.

Common annoyances expressed by artists include clients making unrealistic requests or not respecting the labor involved in creating body art. Tattoo artists often encounter indecisive clients who exhibit bothersome habits, such as obvious price shopping, where they hint at cheaper alternatives, or complaining about tattoo costs. Other irritations include micromanaging the tattooing process, arriving late, and expecting free or original work without compensation.

Moreover, clients should be mindful of basic etiquette, which includes showering before the appointment, avoiding clothing that obstructs access to the tattoo area, and providing clear descriptions of their desired designs. It's also crucial for clients to refrain from negotiating prices. To enhance their experience, clients should respect the artists’ expertise and remain considerate throughout the tattoo journey. Understanding these common annoyances can help foster a better relationship between tattoo artists and their clientele, leading to a smoother tattoo experience for all involved.

Tattoo etiquette is crucial for ensuring a positive experience in a tattoo shop. Here are 11 behaviors to avoid:

  1. Not Showering Beforehand - Arrive clean to respect your artist's workspace.
  2. Micromanaging the Process - Trust your artist's expertise without hovering over every decision.
  3. Comparing an Artist's Work - Every artist has a unique style; avoid bringing up others’ tattoos.
  4. Negotiating or Criticizing the Price - Understand that quality work comes at a cost; respect your artist’s pricing.
  5. Acting Like a Know-It-All - Stay open-minded and listen to your artist’s recommendations.

What Not To Say In A Tattoo Shop

What Not To Say In A Tattoo Shop?

When visiting a tattoo studio, there are several phrases you should avoid, as they can be disrespectful or inappropriate. Firstly, asking for a discount ("Can't you give me a discount?") undermines the artist's skill and hard work. Similarly, inquiring if you can bring friends ("Can I bring my friends in?") can disrupt the creative process and environment of the studio. Additionally, requesting the artist to "just make it work" disregards their professional judgment and expertise.

Moreover, asking for a tattoo to be copied ("Can you please copy this tattoo?") is frowned upon as it does not respect the original artist’s creativity and violates intellectual property. Lastly, suggesting to do the tattoo while intoxicated ("Can you do this while I’m drunk?") is not only irresponsible but also can hinder the artist’s ability to work effectively and safely.

Proper tattoo etiquette involves being prepared, respecting the artist’s time, and having clear communication. Clients should shower before their appointment, similar to preparing for a date, as hygiene is paramount. Understanding and following these dos and don’ts fosters a positive atmosphere for both the artist and client. Tattoo studios function as unique spaces where permanent art is created, and maintaining respect ensures a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. By adhering to these guidelines, clients enhance their tattoo journey and contribute to a respectful environment.

How Much Do You Pay For Tattoos At A Tattoo Expo

How Much Do You Pay For Tattoos At A Tattoo Expo?

Typically, tattoo prices range from $100 to $200, influenced by factors such as size and complexity. The cost of tattoos can vary greatly, with estimates ranging from $50 to $500 per hour for professional artists, and even more for highly renowned tattooists or extensive designs. To help gauge costs, a tattoo price calculator is accessible, enabling potential clients to estimate their tattoo expenses based on size, intricacy, and the choice between a local studio or a larger parlor.

Additionally, attending tattoo conventions usually incurs separate costs. Single-day passes generally range from $20 to $50, and entry fees are often nominal, allowing attendees to explore the venue, meet artists, and consider getting tattooed. However, purchasing items or attending specific shows may require additional fees. For exhibitors and artists, booth rental can escalate to around $1000 or more, particularly for internationally recognized conventions. Ticket purchase options may include daily prices or an all-access pass for the entire event.

One notable aspect is that tattoo pricing is typically calculated hourly, so budget considerations should account for both size and design style; a $400 budget might only suffice for about two hours of work, depending on the artist’s rate.

For those interested in competitive aspects, entering a tattoo contest involves a $15 fee, and participants must complete an entry form with personal details. Tattoo artists at conventions set their prices independently, ensuring fairness and transparency.

If planning to get tattooed at an expo, preparation can enhance the experience. Attendees should anticipate unique pricing structures at events and consider convenience options like on-site ATMs for cash withdrawals. Ultimately, the cost of a tattoo is individualized and must be discussed directly with the tattoo artist, reflecting their discretion while maintaining fair pricing standards. Thus, it’s beneficial to be informed, budget accordingly, and perform due diligence regarding artists and convention specifics when seeking a tattoo experience at an expo.

  • I love Hyein so much in this song! Honestly, I saw the live version and its sound exactly like the recording version. Hyein is such an inspiration for me, as I’m 2 years younger than her, and often praised by her own singing, even if I’m not as good as any of these members. But, Hyein is the youngest of her group and her vocals are amazing! Her voice was basically the reason I got into kpop lel.

  • The signature of njs voices: 1. Hyein voice is kind of giving you a lot of attitude and confidence 2. Haerin voice is kind of intricate and sensual. 3. Hanni voice is sweet and feminine 4. Dani voice is bright and kind of disney-like 5. Minji voice is kind-of low-registered and hip So actually the best vocal depends on your taste. For me it is Haerin, she is carrying a lot of emotion in a lowkey way. P/S: Sensual means giving comfort to senses and feeling, and thus makes you like it. Whoever thinks of it as “for adult”, just have your mind checked since it is too filthy to see things in a pure way.

  • Honestly hybe girlgroup have been a rly fresh air for me, le serafim and newjeans already have they own distinct sound even though they just debut, antifragile is a rly good song and their bside is absolutely wonderful, and i have been listening to newjeans song nonstop especially hype boy, i hope they will always bring a good music

  • Every one of the girls have silver angelic vocals like someone you hear in late 90’s and early 2000’s back then all the female artists have so much colors in their vocals and NewJeans has all of it in them. Heejin did a great job picking up unique girls from hundreds that auditioned. Like I have always said since NewJeans debuted they reminded me of 3WL girl group, so much talents in one group.

  • I think the main producer and composer of all NWJNS songs so far, 250 (Lee Hohyung), is not getting enough credit he deserves. I know all five girls are super cute, pretty, talented and their concept is great and all, but what really makes NWJNS special is their exceptionally good songs. When i first heard Ditto i knew right away it was him again. Bravo to 250.

  • I didn’t even notice at first but after multiple listens I noticed that there is no raps ! I mean I like rap but sometimes in kpop, kpop rappers tends to be a little cringe or not that good imo So it feels good to have a group when they all can sing and have beautiful vocals !! I’m obsessed with the song already !!

  • This song gave me a mixture of feelings at first listen, instantly I felt nostalgic, warm, comforts, chills, sadness all at once. from the lyrics to the familiarity of the melody to the unique beats are what make this song interesting and refreshing to listen to. The melody of the song(especially at the ra ta ta ta ullin simjang and stay in the middle part) reminds me a very tone down ver of a familiar Christmas melody but yet I can’t exactly pin point it. It just feel familiar from those part of the song and give off the joy and warmth from listening to a Christmas carol. after the ra ta ta ta part comes I got nothing to lose, the singing style on that line brings in the longing and sadness, it’s the contrast of emotions it gives off bewteen lines. Additionally, The faded out vocal at the end place me in a setting of walking in a cold sorrow hollow winter day with a emptied heart and loneliness. I think they choose a right time of the year to release these type of sound. imagine releasing it in the summer, it will probably feel different listening on a bright energetic summer days than on a ice chilling winter days filled with tingling feelings.
