Actor Sebastian Stan, who plays Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee in the Hulu series Pam and Tommy, had to have 35 fake tattoos applied daily to look like the rocker. Born in Romania, Stan spent three months in the seaside city of Constanta. He discussed the more challenging aspects of the role, noting that he doesn’t have a tattoo on his body and doesn’t play the drums.

Stan has always considered getting tattoos, but never went there. He had more than 30 tattoos on at a time while filming Pam and Tommy, but none of them were exact replicas of what Lee’s body looked like. According to Williams, there were legal issues with the tattoos.

For the series, Stan worked with special effects company Autonomous FX, and was covered in plastic wrap as the artists designed the faux tattoos on his body. Asked about his ink for Pam and Tommy, Stan told MTV News he doesn’t have any tattoos, which made the role all the more intriguing.
