Your tutorials have revived my love of playing guitar. My favorite tutorial you have posted is “Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want” by The Smiths. You did an amazing job and it was life-changing! I was so happy when it went viral and you were awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. I was pleased to be in attendance during the ceremony to support you. (I come from the future BTW)
Hello! I’m Brazilian, and I can’t help smile every time I discover a chord in this song – it’s pure beauty! Thank you so much for demonstrating the chords and how to play them. I have a suggestion: what if we place the bass note on the 6th string at the 2nd fret? i thought that it sounds more clear but its just a feelling, i dont know if this is correct. Um grande abraço do Brasil!!!!
Idk to me sounds better with a B minor and an E minor with low E string muted which are far easier chords to finger as well. Gives it a fuller sound which if you are just playing on one guitar sounds much better. If you have multiple guitars and a bit of studio magic like the band did then that’s a different story I suppose…
Absolutely amazing Bella! I’m sure that Sade would be proud if she heard this. This song, ironically, is about what Sade learned from a man in a New York bar from his experiences in the Vietnam war, in particular, having to take another human life and the shame that comes with it, that it stays with you forever, like a tattoo. Being Ukrainian, I sure you can appreciate the lament of that man’s soul brought to life by this ballad. God Bless!!
He told me sweet lies of sweet love Heavy with the burden of the truth And he spoke of his dreams Broken by the burden Broken by the burden of his youth “Fourteen years,” he said “I couldn’t look into the sun She saw him laying at the end of my gun” Hungry for life And thirsty for the distant river I remember his hands And the way the mountains looked The light shot diamonds from his eyes Hungry for life And thirsty for the distant river Like the scar of age Written all over my face The war is still raging inside of me I still feel the chill As I reveal my shame to you I wear it like a tattoo I wear it like a tattoo I wear it like a tattoo
I would have to disagree on the chords used compared to the studio version of how Sade did it. However, your voice (although not Sade’s obviously) sounded very well with the chords you used. And to be honest music is not about “using the right chords” all the time. It’s about expression and everyone does that differently. Also some people’s voices sound better in different tunings and different chords. As long as your instrument and your voice match it (most of the time) will sound good. However it goes you did well with this performance and of course it is never easy to put yourself out there for others to judge (and they often do) so kudos to you for being brave 👏
