How To Remove Fake Skin After Tattoo?

In this video, Daniel Yuck shares a step-by-step guide on how to remove Saniderm or other second skin products used on your new tattoo. Excess ink from fake skins can be difficult and messy, so it’s essential to get your tattoos portfolio-ready. The process involves taking the first skin off after 24 hours and reapplying a second piece that stays on for 3-4 days.

After the 5-day period, remove the second skin and clean the tattoo with an antimicrobial cleanser or non-scented soap. Pat it dry with a clean cloth or paper towel and apply a thin layer of fragrance-free product. Some household products contain chemicals that quickly fade pigments and break the tattoo. Peel the skin down at an acute angle rather than at 90 degrees, starting at the top.

After removing the second skin, remove the first Saniderm bandage within a day after getting your tattoo. Clean the bandage with warm soapy water, pat dry with a clean towel, and apply a thin layer of unscented lotion or something light. Use a hot bowl of water to soak a washcloth in the soapy water, press it against the affected area, and scrub. Use Vaseline to pick up excess ink and mix it with the bandage. If the bandage is too sticky, use water to loosen it. Gently wash the tattoo with warm water and unscented soap, pat dry, and slowly pull the film off, not pulling it straight up away from the skin but pulling it back and across the skin while holding your skin taut.
