What Is The Evidence Against Darrell Brooks?

The evidence against Darrell Brooks in the Waukesha Christmas parade attack is substantial, including videos of his red Ford Escape ramming into the crowd and testimony from witnesses who identified him as the driver. Convicted on all 76 counts, including six counts of first-degree intentional homicide, Brooks faces multiple mandatory life sentences. His past use of a vehicle as a weapon further complicates his defense, while his ability to drive and park the vehicle post-attack undermines claims of mechanical failure.

Brooks, who opted to represent himself by dismissing public defenders shortly before the trial, displayed disruptive behavior in court, often refusing to acknowledge his own name. Despite his attempts at defense, the prosecution demonstrated that Brooks’s actions were deliberate; he did not stop driving as he barreled through the parade on November 21, 2021. The jury viewed compelling evidence, including a music video featuring Brooks beside the red Ford Escape and additional footage showing the vehicle during a visit to his mother’s home.

During his trial, Brooks acknowledged the incident but stopped short of taking full responsibility, framing it as not being an intentional attack. However, Waukesha County District Attorney Susan Opper argued forcefully that the evidence overwhelmingly supported the conclusion that Brooks’s actions were intentional and premeditated. Survivors and relatives of the victims expressed their outrage at Brooks’s actions, firmly stating that the devastating consequences of that day were a result of his decisions.

As the trial progressed, Judge Jennifer Dorow exhibited patience amid Brooks's antics, leading to a swift conviction by the jury for the tragic event that left six deceased and numerous others injured. Brooks’s claims and interruptions throughout the trial did not sway the jury, who reached a verdict based on the clear evidence of intentional wrongdoing.

Cross tattoos, particularly those located under the eye, are complex designs with multifaceted meanings that vary significantly across cultures and personal experiences. While such tattoos can symbolize faith, strength, and commitment, they often carry implications rooted in specific subcultures, notably gang and prison environments.

In gang culture, it may signal that someone has served time, confronted personal humiliation, or even faced violence. • All the reactions from him, all the interruptions, all the senseless questions, the head shaking, the pretending to be emotional, are not helping him with the jury. He has repeatedly asked questions that illicit condemning responses. Such as “how do you know she died instantly”? The witness “because I saw her”. (Paraphrasing) Every witness has done an excellent job of keeping their cool, and composure. Much respect as I don’t know if I could do so.

  • Brooks is very interested in the articles showing people getting hit. He leans forward, closer to the screen and really studies it. I think he is fascinated that he created all this. Never flinching, never looking away, not a tear being shed for anyone other than himself. I hope a crowd gathers outside the courthouse when the verdict is read, and they all cheer loudly so he will know how this community feels about him and how pleased they will be knowing he will never, ever, get out of prison.

  • I’ve never shouted at a article before in my life but I did today! The questions he asked the dancing granny’s were so disrespectful. But loved her honest and respectful answers. The best answer was ‘I couldn’t see as I don’t have eyes in the back of my head’! 😊 Thankfully he’s now where he belongs for life.

  • Pure evil. Just when you think the defendant cannot be any more callous regarding the carnage he inflicted at the parade, never has this been more evident than here on Day 9 of the trial during testimony from the dancing granny, at 40:28. Defendant is unrelenting with objection after objection, hurled strategically every 10 seconds, to disrupt the flow of her testimony. That’s because it was among the most damning testimony yet– she saw 4 of the people that Darrell Brooks (defendant) struck and killed with his red SUV. I have no doubt that when the judge hands down life-term sentence to Darrell Brooks for murder of the victims, that he’ll argue vociferously behind his mask, “Those dancing grannies? They were all old, wrinkled and going to die in a couple years anyways– 4 years tops. So, by my calculations, that works out to 10 years altogether. 15 years max. And may I add, respectfully, Your Honor, not one of them ever ID’ed the license plate of my red SUV. I will appeal this to the Supreme Court.” Because loss of human life doesn’t matter to him. Except, of course, when it concerns his own.

  • Really? He has the right to face and question his accuser? Well, six of them are dead because of him, so how does he propose to do so?! He is so beyond disrespectful. I feel so sorry for all of the victims having to relive this tragedy, and especially those having to be questioned by him! Just horrible!

  • ⏰️TIME STAMPS⏰️ -UPDATED AS I WATCH (WITH MY OPINIONS) 0:00 on the record Statute 802.01 that the Judge referred Darrell Brooks 10:15 Jury almost enters 11:15 Witness Laura Thein, Dancing Granny (Why doesn’t Darrell understand he can’t speak while others are speaking! My heart goes out to all of these victims/witnesses!!! I also feel for the court reporter!!! I bet her fingers are burning!!!) (34:45 is a PERFECT example of why Darrell Brooks objects to almost every question! In my opinion, it’s so the Jury can’t follow and be sure of what they’ve heard!) 1:10:50 cross 1:38:50 witness excused Jury released due to Brooks outburst 1:46:48 break/off the record 2:06:02 back on the record – Darrell Brooks notes his “concerns” for the record… (2:54:25 Darrell Brooks is complaining about victims HE MADE VICTIMS HIMSELF, allegedly!!!!!!) 3:00:20 Judge stops defendant (FINALLY!!!) State responds (or tries but gets interrupted) 3:07:55 Judge responds (PERFECTLY!!!) (And it was almost 55 minutes, for the record! 😉) 3:26:05 witness Hope Evans-Jansen 3:30:01 cross 3:51:50 lunch 4:58:00 cameras back on 5:06:15 back on record 5:08:45 witness Trooper Michael Smith 5:22:18 cross 5:40:55 witness Dr Amy Sheil (ME: Medical Examiner. Conducted Autopsy on 3 murdered victims) 5:58:30 cross (after Brooks “collects” himself yet again, from being so “emotional” but this “emotion” is, in my opinion, just a show for the jury!!! I’m not seeing his actions throughout this trial, that he has ANY remorse for his alleged actions!

  • 02:05:00 to 02:57:00 – Defendant goes on a tirade for 52 minutes straight. During those 52 minutes, there was not a shred of remorse or accountability expressed for the carnage he caused at the holiday parade. No acknowledgment of shame. None whatsoever. This stunt of his was nothing more than to delay the trial with frivolous arguments, and he succeeded. If anything, he’s made a mockery of the criminal justice system and adding insult to injury to all 77 victims, including the people he killed.

  • He didn’t really need a break he’s just trying to act like a normal human being who actually has feelings and empathy. He knows he should feel something for the death of a small child in particular / murder of a child I should say. It’s such an obvious act, he is a narcissistic fool he thinks himself above and better than the law !

  • Darrell Brooks is very arrogant and condescending…acts as if he has no recollection of this catastrophe! His line of questioning is a joke- “Did you see the driver of the vehicle/did you hear a horn?” Really? The road was barricaded for a reason you clown😡👊🏾🤦🏾‍♀️! My heart goes out to the victims and their families!

  • Update On Brook While he is serving life X 6 . brooks everyday worries that his food is being spit in. he has to have guards standby when he showers because of threats from other inmates. he gets himself in trouble every week so that he can be put in isolation to keep him safe from the rest of the inmates. brooks has been attacked more than 100 times thus far. none of the other inmates talk to him the torture him every chance they get. brooks has requested to not get mail from outside the prison because 99% of his mail is hate mail death threats. prank calls . even the guards look the other way when the population messes with him. YOU HAVE BEEN INFORMED

  • The one huge positivity result that came from this tragic event is that these families are bonded for life and don’t need to go through life alone. Often times, while we can have sympathy for any victims, we usually don’t know what they truly feel nor do we really know what they are truly going through. But not in this situation and I can find little comfort in knowing this. God bless you all.

  • I love the grandma who testified on behalf of the dancing grannies. She’s so brave, so great. So sweet. She’s doing her absolute best dealing with this. I feel so bad that she had to endure his constant objections. She’s obviously hard of hearing, and Brooks is muttering them. (She struggles to hear the state attorney sometimes, and she’s speaking louder than Brooks most of the time.)

  • I feel that he depends on the judge to clarify and help him with legal jargon and procedures. To his benefit she has done that in some ways to make sure he has no way of gaining an appeal, but I feel even if she didn’t he still has no basis of appeal at this point. I feel so bad for the dancing granny and have to watch the article and revisit those tragic memories. She stated to Brooks that at the time of the attack she was not in any state of mind to testify, so I really hope perusal these articles for the first time doesn’t effect her mental health too much, even though I feel it would for anyone experiencing this. I hope she realizes that even though testifying was difficult, she helped get Justice for her friends who were hurt and killed and that that has to be one of the highest forms of respect for them and I’m sure their families are hugely grateful. She was probably one of the most important witnesses, along with the experts and others, in my opinion because she was able to testify the start of the massacre and witnessed multiple people killed or injured to lay the foundation of the attack and his refusal to stop even after injuring and killing their group as the first group.

  • For the people who kept saying” You’re the judge, stop letting him do that” or “act like one”…please SHUT UP and don’t be so ignorant. She knew EXACTLY what she was doing. She covered herself 100% in not letting this scumbag EVER win an appeal for being treated unfairly or inappropriately. This judge was a genius and super efficient in this trial. She didn’t let him get to her although I am POSITIVE there were tons of times she wanted to just tell him to shut up.

  • What universe is he living in where he can utter the words “this case should be dismissed?” I predict seven consecutive life terms plus 999 years. When/if he files an appeal, he will be wasting his time. “I have the right to have my demands met!”. Bruh, you forfeited your right to “demand” anything when you drove your SUV through that parade.

  • He’s almost too smart for his own good. He wants to face his accuser, as though the people that are DEAD from HIS actions, don’t matter at all because they can’t be present to face him. He’s so IGNORANT to not understand that there are several injured people who gather together and form the “entity” he so often talks about.

  • He is in jail right now, waithing to hear the sentence and then he will go to prison. As they said, he is kept to him self because there is fear that the other inmates will hurt him very badly, if not more, if he is out with all of them. Brooks will not do will in prison. He will quickly learn that if he thinks about shouting to get his way, he may end up in the prison hospital. Brooks will be utterly shattered in prison and I can’t find any part in me that hold any form of pity for him. He will only get out of the hell hole that prison will become for him when another trial is set for him. He will never understand nor realize that the courtroom is the only place on this eart where he can be safe.

  • Where in the Constitution does say he has the right to demand every copy from court be certified! Asking for certified copy of all their state certificates to operate in Wisconsin is just a time waster to drag all this out. The state of Wisconsin represents those people that he murdered and injured. Does he require the bodies of those murdered be exhumed, brought to court, and to place their fingerprints on the complaint? The State stands up for it’s citizens that are threatened by this man. The court is not there to teach you how to be a lawyer. If he felt smug enough to think he could handle it, then don’t cry when he makes a mistake of procedure. This court has given this person more leeway than anyone deserves. The only thing that prejudiced his case was him and his attitude.

  • I personally can not wait for the reporting that Brooks has been attacked and beat down while he is living the rest of his life in prison. This murderer deserves to get everything that happens to him. I am sure no one feel for his acting skills after the testimony of the Coroner . He certainly jumped right back into his disgusting behavior . Look at how he reacts after the second medical examiner. Like he wanted to rush the court.

  • It must infuriate the jury to have him constantly want to bring up stuff that’s not reliant to them making a ruling.. saying I think the jury would want to know this. But when there is actual facts and witnesses that have testimony relevant to the case he objects. With no basis! I hope this Jury knows how amazing they are for enduring all they have to witness in this trial. It can not be easy. ♥️

  • Darrell Brooks doesn’t have a clue or doesn’t know the definition of the hearsay rule he keeps using it incorrectly if it’s something you observed that is not hearsay he thinks he’s going to have all kinds of grounds to warrant and appeal but he sadly mistaken but I enjoy the hell out of perusal and make a fool out of himself

  • The defendant has said numerous times he was concerned about his family or was checking on his kids or his mother how would he feel if someone hurt someone they loved and then that person that hurt them took their life got to Badger them afterwards like seriously when he talked to his own mother the way he’s talking to this woman I understand now that was a part of the granny Squad he’s disgusting straight up no soul no heart and I hope eventually some point in his life he understands how worthless he really is

  • Clearly, he has issues with remembering court procedures and needed to study up on it if he’s playing attorney. On several accounts he should have been held in contempt. Just because he chose to defend himself, does not give him free leeway to chastise the judge, continue interrupting, and object with all the wrong objections. He knows not what he’s doing and no law states the judge has to explain n direct him on how to be a lawyer. Repeating 5he same questions is redundant and annoying and shows his no knowledge again, of courtroom procedure. He most def needs to have an attorney there to instruct him so we all don’t go through the Idiocracy of his behaviors and comments. Very infrequent does an attorney ask for grounds, as they know what they did was inappropriate. He truly believes he is Perry Mason and he’s more like Mo or Curly of the 3 Stooges. A fool acting a fool.

  • I love when she says “I’m going to now move on.” I always say “No you’re not.” Lol And that’s when he starts arguing. In circles constantly. He doesn’t stop. Edit: I don’t think he can stop. Literally I don’t think he’s wired that way. He’s so so scared of this jury. He alway starts in before or while they come out. “There isn’t an injured party to make a claim.” Lol You killed them d*** bag. He is so damn entitled. She has to do whatever he wants to his satisfaction. Just another narcissist doing what they do best, cause chaos.

  • Taxit, takit, he doesn’t know what he’s saying. If I was the judge I would have corrected him in front of everyone and said if that’s actually what you’re referring to no I never entered into such an agreement. It would have been so hard for me to not try and get at him any chance I got because he’s just so annoying. It’s sad that his soul came into this world and this is the path he’s taken. Being an absolutely vile “human” to the core

  • Judge is doing a great job, I feel for her but I don’t understand why she keeps letting him cut off prosecution by screaming ” grounds grounds”; allowing him to keep repeating he doesn’t acknowledge being called his name. It’s been on the record, he doesn’t have to keep saying it & be allowed to do it.

  • I drive an suv and let’s say I want to get something out of it, I’m gonna say I’m getting something out of my car. I’m not going to say I’m getting something out of my suv. If I’m going to start it I’d say I’m going to start my car, not I’m going to start my suv. Idk what he thinks he’s getting at by saying it’s not a car. It was a car, he was driving it, and he committed all these crimes with his car.

  • This fool honestly thinks he knows more than the judge and all 3 seasoned attorneys at the prosecutors table. It blows my mind when he asks Judge Dorow if what she doing is “lawful law” ; which by the way is not even legal terminology. He can’t even say “tacit” or “license plate” correctly. He says “TACKET” and “license PLACE”. I pray his appeal gets denied. I feel like he won’t get his appeal because the judge and DA and the 2 ADAs had their ducks in a row. All just in my opinion.

  • Lol this dude literally mentioned law and crime networks YouTube website comment section and referenced how, “inappropriate and insensitive”, the comments towards his family and himself, have been. That is laughable. He also mentioned that the comments were mixed with threats against him, his family, and children. I have not come across a single comment on that websites comment section or others, that contained any threats towards his life or, god forbid, his children and family members. So ridiculous. Its clearly all about him. Anything to use as an excuse for a mistrial and or appeal. Also, you can’t just claim to be a sovereign citizen when it suits you legally, and then revert back to the constitution and your rights as an American citizen, when it suits you legally. Pick a lane and stick to it. This guy is incredible. Thinks he’s smarter then everyone else. Thinks he’s going to simply, talk his way out. Not happening.

  • The way Darrell Brooks is disrespectful of this process adds to this terrible tragedy as he is torturing the victims again. If he had any respect for himself he would plead guilty and just accept his punishment and not cause the victims to have to walk through every step of this painful day and the days since.

  • It brought me to tears when the medical examiner was talking about Jane And the other Lady when she was talking about Jackson Sparks the little 8 yr old who died she broke down so emotional all you hear is Brooks objection. Grounds. Brooks showed no remorse She broke down when talking about Little Jackson sparks injuries. Brooks sitting there making out he was crying and upset. Well you shouldn’t have done what you did killing 5 Adults and one Child and many more injured those poor Ladies who were the Dancing Grannies🙏🙏 in the beginning all you hear from Brooks ranting on about he is intiltal to have these papers and he’s rights he is a good Actor😡 he thinks he is going to walk out a free man don’t think so. May ALL THE. VICTIMS WHO DIED. REST. IN. INTERNAL Peace. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 IM perusal FROM London. England

  • He is sitting looking at the judge like he has some right to interrupt even though he’s been told the ruling and the rules. The audacity of him to keep on as that poor lady has to relive the horror of perusal her beautiful friends die in a Christmas 🎄⛄ parade. Not one bit of shame in his game. That’s what it is to him, a game. He had her so distracted it was hard for her and he knows it and keeps on as he sits there with an arrogant attitude. Disgusting

  • Darrell Brooks defense of himself in this case is the PERFECT example of the saying “knows just enough to be dangerous.” He has a basic grasp of some legal concepts, and uses that knowledge to totally destroy himself in front of the jury. He jumps on this grandmother in an attempt to make pointless and ultimately inconsequential showings that she learned of peoples injuries second hand. Even if this was technically hearsay, this witness isn’t necessary to prove people died and all his pursuit of the issue did was increase the amount of time they are discussing horrific injuries he caused. This is only one of the multiple times he thinks he has some legal argument to make on a certain point, yet none of what he is doing is pursuant to an overall legal strategy and oftentimes did much more harm than good to his defense. He’d have been much better off if he had absolutely no knowledge of any of these concepts and put forth no defense at all.

  • I made the awful mistake of perusal an unedited/unblurred article of him running over the hs band members.. My GOD it was utterly horrible 😞 When they described his vehicle as heaving up and down, they were NOT exaggerating. He really hit them and everyone without a shred of care or consideration in the world.. There’s no possible way that this was some huge accident. He knowingly ran everyone over and should burn for it.

  • I just noticed on how long it took him to ask a question to the medical examiner. The judge should not had of let him take so long questioning that witness. He needed to set there and be Billy bad ass like he has been with everyone else because he never took responsibility for what he did so why should we believe he care now

  • This fungus magnet just shot out a “hearsay” Objekshun less than 30 seconds before his cross of the forensic pathologist began and he sounded strong and was able to speak like a human being. Now that it’s his turn to examine the witness, he seems to have lost his ability to communicate effectively. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

  • I just couldn’t get it through my mind, how somebody would kill 4 Dancing Grannies. There’s just so much wrong with that. Or a child. But something about those grannies just really got to me. Maybe because I’m getting older myself. This judge needs to just start talking over this clown the way he does to her. The DA/Prosecutor and the judge need to be a bit more patient with this witness.

  • That police officer testifying about his children 😭 he’s so calm and collected. The plain facts of what happened to him and his family hit me hard 😖 How does this defendant have no compassion. Even if he is innocent, which seems impossible with all the evidence so far, but even IF, the way he’s behaving is so belligerent, callous and self interested…

  • I thought this was the most recent article of the trial, but as it went on, it seemed to me, that DB seemed to be understanding less and less re: normal court proceedings and common trial verbiage. I actually had to stop the article to verify that this WAS the most current article. It seems as if he is, with all due respect, becoming more and more ignorant by the day. How can he NOT understand what hearsay means???

  • Has anyone else noticed that Terrell asked a lot of really dumb questions because he’s honestly just curious and he wants them to explain things to him that he doesn’t understand. It absolutely drives me crazy that he questions these professionals who have worked their ass off to learn how to do the techniques to do what they do and yet he has the audacity to question them about how they could do it better and don’t you think you should put this here so it’s easier for those of us who don’t understand things to read it well now because if you had ever read a report, you don’t understand that you don’t just look at the diagram and assume the results without reading the report that goes with the diagram he is so unintelligent, and he accentuates that with every stupid thing he says

  • I would love to know other people’s thoughts on this. Would he be required to have his hair cut? If not, is it possible he intentionally had his head shaved as part of his defense? His attempt at saying it wasn’t me cuz the person you claim had long hair or whatever and as you didn’t see me shave my head how can you know it was me? I’m pretty sure that was his argument with one of the female law enforcement officers a few days back.

  • He did it and he knows it all this I do not consent to the name of Darrell Brooks and then he made the statement I am here on behalf of my client all he is doing is trying to keep them confused and get a miss trial and walk free this man is clearly as ignorant as he acts all of this is because he honestly thinks he should go free
