Shay Mitchell, a Canadian actress known for her role in the TV show Pretty Little Liars, has made headlines for her discreet yet meaningful tattoo collection. Each piece represents something dear to her, and her body art serves as a reminder of her love for her work. Shay Mitchell recently visited celebrity-favorite New York City tattoo artist Jon Boy to cash in on the tiny-tattoo trend, choosing a set of Roman numerals “I IV III” on her left forearm. The tattoo consists of the Roman numerals for one, four, and three, which are written very tiny and barely visible.
The significance of her tattoo is still a secret, but speculations suggest that I IV stands for “I Love You”. The tattoo is a hidden throwback to the 90s, with the number 1 4 3 representing the code for “I Love You”. Shay Mitchell also got the word “honey” inked on her left hand at Choachella festival in 2018.
The “Vibes” tattoo on her wrist refers more to the multicolored filter on the post than the tattoo itself. According to BRIT+CO, 143 used to be the code of “I love you” back in the day when people used pagers and AIM. Shay Mitchell’s small tattoo is made up of the Roman numerals for one, four, and three, which typically stands for “I love you”. She also has an “E” tattooed on her finger to commemorate the role that sprung her into mainstream fame.

What Does Beyoncé Hand Tattoo Mean?
Beyoncé’s tattoos hold significant meanings related to her family and personal milestones. Notably, she and her husband Jay-Z both have the Roman numeral "IV" inked on their ring fingers, symbolizing their shared lucky number, which reflects their birthdays, Beyoncé's mother's birthday, and their wedding date, all falling on the 4th. It’s clear that the number 4 is of deep importance to the couple.
In a notable alteration made in August 2016, Beyoncé updated her "IV" finger tattoo from red to black ink, slightly changing its design to now resemble a combination of the number 4 and the letter "J" for Jay-Z. Alongside this tattoo, she recently added three delicate dots to her left ring finger, which fans speculate represent her three children: Blue Ivy, Sir, and Rumi. The middle dot is in blue ink to signify her eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, while the outer two dots likely symbolize her twins, Sir and Rumi.
Beyoncé's first tattoo, an angel inked on her left hip when she was 21, is a work of art she personally designed, showcasing an angel in prayer. She collaborated with tattoo artist Mister Cartoon, a popular choice among celebrities for body art. Currently, she has two tattoos on her left ring finger — the Roman numeral IV and three dots.
During her Renaissance era performances, Beyoncé has been seen performing a unique hand symbol, reminiscent of wings, which has piqued fan curiosity regarding its meaning. This body language often resonates with themes of empowerment and artistry that define her career.
Her tattoos not only represent her love for her family but also align with her role as an advocate for women’s rights and empowerment. With a significant global presence, Beyoncé is recognized for both her music and activism, making the meanings behind her tattoos more profound.
As for her latest ink, the three dots have drawn considerable attention, celebrated for their minimalist design but loaded with personal significance. Beyoncé's tattoos serve as constant reminders of the values and relationships she cherishes most, exhibiting a blend of artistry and deep emotional connection to her loved ones. These artistic expressions encapsulate her journey as a mother, a wife, and an icon—a synthesis of her multifaceted identity.
What Does Beyonce Hand Tattoo Mean?
Beyoncé has tattoos that hold significant meanings related to her family. Her left ring finger features two distinct tattoos: a Roman numeral IV and three small dots. The IV symbolizes key dates in her life, including her wedding to Jay-Z on April 4, her birthday, and the birthdays of both her mother and Jay-Z, as they all fall on the 4th. This number is considered lucky for the couple.
The three dots on her finger are believed to represent her three children: Blue Ivy, Sir, and Rumi. The middle dot is particularly special, as it is tattooed in blue ink to honor her first child, Blue Ivy Carter. Although Beyoncé has never explicitly confirmed the meanings of these tattoos, fans are quick to interpret them based on her life and family milestones.
Prior to these tattoos, Beyoncé had her first tattoo, an angel she designed herself, done on her left hip at the age of 21. However, she soon decided to have this tattoo removed. The minimalist approach to her new tattoos reflects her contemporary style while carrying profound personal significance.
In recent times, during her Renaissance era, Beyoncé has also adopted a unique hand gesture during performances, where she raises and crosses her hands above her head. This pose has sparked conversations among fans, with some suggesting it may draw inspiration from various artistic influences, including a nod to Kevin Aviance’s style.
The tattoos serve not only as personal symbols but also as a visible connection to her identity as a mother and a wife. Fans have applauded her for the thoughtful incorporation of her family's meaning into her body art. Beyoncé's tattoos are a blend of aesthetic appeal and emotional resonance, telling the story of her life journey and family love through minimalist designs.
As she continues to share her artistry with the world, these tattoos remain a private yet public representation of her most cherished relationships. They highlight the importance of family in her life, tying together various significant dates and milestones into simple yet impactful ink on her body. With each tattoo, she narrates her story of love, motherhood, and deeper connections to those she holds dear. So while the meanings behind Beyoncé's tattoos may not be officially confirmed, their symbolic resonance is deeply recognized and celebrated by her fans.
What Does The Tattoo 143 Mean?
The term "143" has become a popular slang for "I love you," especially rooted in its usage from the 1990s, when pagers were a common form of communication. The numbers represent the phrase in a coded manner, with "1" standing for "I," "4" representing "love," and "3" signifying "you." This abbreviation is considered a charming alternative to the more direct "ILY" and serves as a playful way to express affection. As tattoos gain popularity, the "143" tattoo holds significant meaning for many, symbolizing deep commitment and enduring love.
In contemporary culture, tattoos featuring the "143" code are not only a form of personal expression but also encapsulate emotional connections. For instance, various celebrities, including Mitchell, have drawn attention with such tattoos, sparking curiosity among fans about their meanings. Notably, a narrative involving a character named Hunter, who has "1-4-3" tattooed on his foot, highlights how this numerical code can dramatically alter relational dynamics, illustrating the profound implications the phrase can carry.
The song "143," performed by Bobby Brackins featuring Ray J, reflects this sentiment by exploring themes of love and devotion, emphasizing the significance of the numerical shorthand in modern romantic expression. Moreover, tattoos incorporating significant numbers can often symbolize deeper personal stories, such as a player’s jersey number or milestones in life, enhancing their value.
Encountering "143" in social media comments or texts has become common, and many people quickly recognize it as a loving sentiment. However, its emergence alongside other teenage slang might raise questions for parents about the nature of their children's conversations. While "143" is typically innocuous, it serves as a reminder for adults to remain vigilant regarding contemporary slang usage and its implications.
Ultimately, "143" stands as a lasting emblem of affection that transcends its origins in pager code, evolving into a recognizable expression of love in both verbal and tattoo form. It reminds us of the simplicity and profundity behind numerical representations of emotions, making "143" a cherished code in romantic, familial, and friendly exchanges alike.
What Does Ariana Grande'S Hand Tattoo Say?

The "Paradise" tattoo, while not explicitly explained by Adele, likely reflects her personal aspirations or emotional state.
In June 2013, she received three tattoos in one sitting from tattoo artist Bang Bang: "Angelo" on her right hand, "Paradise" on her left hand, and the number 5 on her finger. Rihanna's collection of hand tattoos is a distinctive expression of her identity and experiences. One of her prominent pieces is a tribal dragon claw tattoo on her hand, designed using traditional Maori chiseling techniques, symbolizing aroha (love) and mana (strength). Interestingly, this tattoo aligns with her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown's ink on the same hand. Rihanna has expressed dissatisfaction with her Maori tattoo, prompting her to invite her preferred tattoo artist, Bang Bang, to the Dominican Republic to cover it with a henna-style mandala design, known as Falcon Tattoo, located on her right foot.
Among her most recognizable hand tattoos is the Camo Shark, featured in a Super Bowl poster. This intricate body art is complemented by the cursive ‘Love’ tattoo on her left hand's middle finger, echoing themes of affection, as it resides near her heart. Rihanna’s journey of tattooing, which started in 2008, includes a five-year project to elaborate her hand tattoos further.
Another significant piece is her ‘shhh’ tattoo on her finger, representing personal discretion amidst her public life. I’m a makeup artist and I can say she is one of the few people that does her make up as close to what I do it on clients. Very impressive, but as an ethnic woman, I can understand that some people do not GET your skin tone and either make you look orange or too pale. I totally see why she had to learn to do her own makeup because I’ve seen it and experienced it. Literally anytime I step near a MAC counter, I’m given the wrong shade, but thankfully I’m able to color match myself.
I have to say being someone who knows skincare this is beyond excessive. Most of the facial tools and products she used are used for the same purpose. Let me be clear skincare is self-care but you do not need half of the products she is using. You need a good cleanser, serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen everything else is added enjoyment.
She’s a lovely lady as far as I can tell, and I’m all for indulging yourself and your skin. But this is so wasteful. They make reusable mask pieces and you can soak them in whatever serums you want, they give you the ability to indulge yourself without harming our planet. And if you’re going to wipe off everything you just put on, so your makeup doesn’t slip and slide, that may be a sign for you to not use as much. You skin can only take so much, and when you put a bunch of different actives, fragrances, etc. you can overwhelm your skin horribly. Again, she seems like a lovely person and I love her energy, but I believe she might need to take time to reevaluate her routine.
I was fascinated by this routine! Even if this is what she does only when she has time, it looks like a lot of fun and she seemed to know what she was doing! – It surprised me that she used a moisturiser after sunscreen, but then I realised she was using it as a luminous primer. What surprised me the most was how even though she applied A LOT of “base” products (base, colour correcting, multiple concealers…) it didn’t seem cakey or forced. Amazing!
This was probably the wildest routine I’ve ever seen, and not even because of the masks. I’ve used like six masks at one time. I just wouldn’t have literally layered them on top of each other like that or rubbed all that beautiful goo off. The parts that have me shook are the sheer amount of massaging and applying sunscreen in the wrong phase.
Lol the comments had me thinking she was about to use like 6 masks on top of each other or something. It was pretty normal to me, the only one that seemed “unnecessary” was the top half covering the forehead and eye area after putting the individual masks, but she addressed that by saying that she feels like those are very specific to the area so she uses the top half all over to cover the areas those don’t touch 🤷🏼♀️
How amazing to see so much self love and self care! Thank you Shay for being real and sharing with us your routine. All these comments about “unnecessary steps” or “consumerism”… yet here you are perusal all the “consumerism” and “unnecessary” steps. It’s Vogue, it’s the stunning Shay. Everyone is different and that’s the beauty of it all. 💓
At first I found the routine ridiculous and exaggerated, but it didn’t bother me how she explained it (btw: it’s his taste). Until she touched on an important point that few people experience and that is the discomfort of not finding a basis for the skin tone and she said that in her childhood her surroundings were blonde blue eyes and how she wanted to fit in. It made me feel less alone in that memory.
I was so saddened by the statement that when she was a kid she tried to make herself more like her blonde-haired-blue-eyed friends. I am blonde-haired and blue eyed and I always felt so plain next to my best friend who is half-Filipino half-Mexican. I was (am) so envious of her radiant golden bronze skin, full lips, and thick dark hair.
I loved this tutorial by Shay, I also have to do a lot of steps in my makeup routine, I need to cover imperfections and sometimes it’s a bit heavy for me to have to put layers of concealer, base, etc. but then the result is very worth it. Thank you Vogue for not only showing us celebrities and models with perfect skin, we also need to see more tutorials with mature women, with freckles, etc.
She is gorgeous, with beautiful skin. Far too many unnecessary steps IMO, but ultimately, if her skincare routine brings her joy and moments of peace then that’s what matters. Every woman ( everyone) needs to do what makes them happy. ( but after the masks she could skip so much makeup because her skin is beautiful – she can also skip the serums after those masks that are packed with serum – but I still watched till the end ) 😃❤️
Except the masking, her skincare wasn’t actually as ridiculous as the 58-step made it sound (which includes makeup BTW)? I mean, I think before Dr. Dray’s recent surge in popularity and people realising they’re overdoing it, regular people were trying extensive 16-step like Korean skincare (especially after all the Ordinary me-too brands, things like acids and layering shot up with regular folks), and this is a celebrity, so it wasn’t even much (eye cream, eye gel, serum, sunscreen, moisturiser, spray, that’s it). I can think of many YouTube Skincare gurus who will have more extensive routines. And I think the final two masks were more about holding things in place, so though it looked funny, I’ve had friends try like 3 masks one after the other before events, so not that excessive TBH. She is so likeable and did a great job in this article!
She introduces us the scrub-sponge (0.40) as a revolutionary rare item, “found in Canada” lmao clearly she spends lot of time indoor and so she have the time for 58 morning steps or at least she hasn’t been to a discount store in so long that she forgot what they are like… I mean that’s sold in every Chinese store and drugstore.. anywaaayyysss-ssssooo..😅🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ NO HATE AT ALL! ✌🏽🤍🕊️☮️ She’s so beautiful, such a goddess, and i like the way she takes care of herself☺️
She’s so beautiful. I’ve always had a huge crush on her. But I think it’s high time for celebrities to start making sustainable and ethical products look cool instead of this WASTEFUL, CONSUMERIST nonsense. Also she’s rich so she should have a dermatologist who is responsible enough to tell her that she doesn’t need most of these products. This is terrible for the environment.
Shay is showing us a wasteful routine that her sponsors pushed on her in the hopes that some of you will buy a product that is not in any way responsible for why she has good skin (she gets professional facials, microdermabrasions, non invasive botox, and expensive skin peels like all celebs). The worst part is, as expensive as her real skincare routine must be, this fake one still costs thousands of dollars! One of those masks retails for $100 (for FIVE masks)! The total lack of self awareness in this privileged woman is…whew.
