  • Aaron is one of the most humble rockstars. I love how his songs can be stripped down to an acoustic version and still hold massive emotional weight. That shows a true songwriter… When you can take out all the production and mixing, and just have a vocal and an acoustic guitar or piano. Amazing. So happy he’s constantly writing! He’s a TRUE musician!

  • As a retired soldier with 3 combat tours under his belt, this song reminds me why I was deployed and what I was defending. Thanks Aaron… Thank you all for your comments I really appreciate it. As I have said before thank you all for your well wishes. The Ukrainian conflict is weighing heavily on my mind today. Where will it lead etc. I wont be called back up if this turns international but war sucks. There is no glory in dying young and leaving a good looking corpse. Stay strong Ukraine don’t let the bastards win. All gave some, Some gave all.

  • My husband is a veteran of the 25th ID TROPIC LIGHTING We live in the Appalachian Mountains, a safe place he can heal from his wounds, his TBI. It’s my time to stand a post!! Richard…. • As a Marine with two tours in the sandbox this tugs at the heart strings. Seems these days most are afraid to love America or what it means to truly be an American but this song captures it perfectly. Thanks Aaron. Much love to all my brothers and sisters of this beautiful nation! Don’t you EVER be ashamed of who you are or where you come from!

  • What an honor to able to play with two of the greatest Charlie Daniels and George Jones and such a perfect song god job guys awesome!!! • Loved what Aaron Lewis did with Staind. Always thought he had an incredible voice. Just saw Staind in concert last night. They crushed. As a metal fan (specifically death metal, metalcore, deathcore, and slam metal) and a death metal drummer, country has always hit me deep. The lyrics and the way they put it all together just breaks my heart. They have this ability to tell a story and just get into the soul. Powerful. Aaron Lewis is awesome.

  • I am not from the country side…I am not even Caucasian or from the south…But damn i LOVE this song!! I think when you take into consideration many of the things WE ALL go through as AMERICANS, you can really relate to this song in some way. For me, it was the rough upbringing, coming from a mostly unknown place, having an alcoholic father, my appreciation of guns, resisting the devil’s evil temptations, valuing family & friends over all, and my profound love for this flag, this nation, and all the freedom & liberties that come with being an American.

  • Got damnit I always play this song, and tonight I read the comments. It brought tears to my eyes. The media paints a picture of the country boy, and the truth is that there is so much love on here no matter the color/race. Just good ol boys loving our heritage. God Bless America! God bless the country!

  • Even though I’m not a country boy, or even American I love this song. It has a great message, don’t change for anyone, stay loyal and love those who are loyal to you and stick to your roots and be humble, also be proud of who you are and where you come from. Qualities that everyone should have and should practice.

  • Aaron did not sell his soul. In fact quite the contrary. His music as part of Staind helped more kids than he will ever know. It helped this one 😀. Thank you Aaron. The progression of Staind helped me grow, mature, and come to terms with bad childhood experiences I had no control over. Your decision to take your band to LA was God’s work and you helped so many 🙏.

  • This is still one of if not my #1 all time favorite … George, Charlie and Aaron together made it legendary right off the rip but today this holds so many wonderful memories for me … I went to church with George and Tammy before they separated and my sister bought the property from Charlie that is next door to the Daniels family .. You honestly can’t find any better people than these guys right here . I know Charlie is perusal from heaven today and all this mess that’s happening….its done made him go get that fiddle !!!!! !!!!

  • You know. I hadn’t heard this song in a while. My brother died for this country for me for us. This was his favorite song. When I got to see him we’d take a day’s ride to the beach and play this back to back. Today would be his birthday. We were raised this way and I will die this way. Happy bday Kev. Love you bro.

  • I just can’t listen to this enough, It reminds me of my Brother so much, Every word of this song reminds me of him, He’s just a country boy, He’s fought for our Country in the Iraq war, He lives down a ol dirt road with these 2 flags flying above his land, He has been thru hell and back, he has been shot in war and still made it back home, He stepped out to save his buddies and got wounded saving them, he has 2 purple hearts, that’s just a few of many more. I can stand up proudly and say I’m proud of him for fighting for our great country and my papaw for fighting in the Korean war and all the brave others. Aaron Lewis is badass and we need more people like him. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

  • Amen…my brother!!!! 🙏🙏🙏 My sentiments.. The song you sing make me so emotional.. • “Country Boy” (feat. Charlie Daniels, Chris Young & George Jones) Now I grew up down an old dirt road, in a town you wouldn’t know My pops picked the place up for fifteen hundred bucks, back in nineteen sixty-four My grandfather was a drinker, back in the day he’d put ’em down But a war is known to change a man, and the whiskey’s known to change a man But, that’s not me I rarely drink from the bottle, but I’ll smoke a little weed I still live in the sticks where you wouldn’t go, in a town of twelve hundred off an old dirt road And a country boy, is all I’ll ever be Now it’s been twelve years since I sold my soul, to the devil in L.A He said sign your name here on the dotted line, and your songs they all will play He set up shop on Sunset, he put me up at the Marquee He said, “You wanna sell a million records, boy? You better listen to me” He said, “Change your style, whiten your smile You could lose a couple pounds If you want to live this life, you’d better lose that wife Do you need your friends around?” I said, “no that’s not me” ‘Cause the biggest things in life are your friends and family And I like my jeans and my old t-shirts, and a couple extra pounds never really hurt ‘Cause a country boy, is all I’ll ever be ‘Cause Hank taught me just how to stay alive You’ll never catch me out the house without my nine or fourty-five I’ve got a big orange tractor and a diesel truck, and my idea of heaven’s chasin’ white tail bucks And as a country boy, I know I can survive Now two flags fly above my land, and really sum up how I feel One is the colors that fly high and proud, the red, the white, the blue The other one’s got a rattlesnake, with a simple statement made “Don’t tread on me” is what it says, and I’ll take that to my grave Because, this is me I’m proud to be American and strong in my beliefs And I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again, ’cause I’ve never needed government to hold my hand And I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again, ’cause my family’s always fought and died to save this land And a country boy, is all I’ll ever be I love my country, I love my guns, I love my family, I love the way it is now And anybody that tries to change it, has to come through me That should be all of our attitudes, ’cause this is America, and a country boy is good enough for me, son

  • This is the first I’m hearing your music I’ve been in the army 15 yrs between active and national guard I like it I’ve been gone on a lot of deployments I’m a old country fan but I think you just got a new “fan” I’m not star struck at all so fan not a good word good song bro thanks from all 256th in Louisiana

  • Let’s talk about America for a moment. From the beginning we have been better than other countries. The country boys got together and kicked the ass of the greatest army of the time. We are so determined that when we fought ourselves it was the hardest war we ever fought. We are built as a country to have more rights than everyone else so let’s not conform to the way the rest of the world works. Let’s keep our freedoms and our rights.

  • It don’t matter your color or race. It don’t matter what your story is. It don’t matter what kind of personality you have. If you’re a good person who stands by those they love and wants to protect and cherish the Southern heritage and culture then stand with me with your guns raised and your voices loud!
