To me the Ankh is representative of a human figure – head/arms/body and legs as one. But it is also a key shaped object if you look at how it is held by the loop, allowing access to life/knowledge etc that is hidden from most. We still say the key of life today. Whoever first designed the Ankh was very clever in the symbolism they chose, because it can mean so many things to different people, depending on their perception of it, the context in which they are introduced to it and the beliefs of the person who introduced them to it. The actual meaning is lost in the annuls if time but the simple design is ever enduring…..
FYI. The upsidedown Christian cross wasnt perceived as evil until around the 1950s when horror movies started to use it. Up until then, it was know as the cross of St.Peter and not evil at all. I’ve always felt that the way the “ankh” is pronounced could he wrong, simply because white people, or people who are not familiar with African pronunciations, find it difficult to pronounce words that begin with the consonant “m” or “n” followed by another consonant. Examples: nkosi, ndlovu, mvula, mpumalanga, Mbeki. In South Africa white people tend to place a vowel in front of such words in order to help them deal with the pronunciation. Eg, inkosi, undluv, umvula, mapumalanga, Mabeki. I recently stumbled upon a fascinating article by a brother called Bogosi Kupe, in which he compares certain Kemetic words with Setswana/Sotho words. In the article, Bogosi indicates that the “ankh” in SeTswana/Sotho is Nkgwe/Nkgwe. I also remember hearing a Ghananian historian calling it Nkgwe. That cross seems to have been widely used all over Africa in ancient times. The ancient Kemetu have of course immortalized it by casting it in stone, but it is not unique to Kemet. Now, most of your followers would have heard of the great Kemetic genius called “Imhotep”. That is almost certainly a mispronunciation, as explained above. That word should not have a vowel at the beginning. The vowel was inserted by Westerners in order to help them pronounce that word. I know of a Malawian who’s surname is Mhango. White people pronounce it im/hungo. The correct pronunciation, phonetically, is “Mungo”. The “h” is silent. I see some brothers in the US have adopted the name Imhotep. That is an incorrect spelling.
As someone of Paksitani decent I want to work with the Ankh. I had been suggested this by a black healer I was working with before she passed. The coptic egyptian christians used the Ankh in place of the cross. So to say they have nothing to do with one another is misinformed. I’m not saying you’re wrong about it representing the female reproductive organs, it could be that the christian cross has a much different meaning than we were let on.
Great article, very insightful, i just wish you mentioned how it is also a breathwork technique, and that the Ankh maps onto the physical body and the energy body. When you do that, and breathe – life gets very interesting indeed! Hence the name ‘breath of life’ – it is a breathwork technique used to expand consciousness. The ankh is actually not just symbolic, in fact it was a tool used after being rung, to capture the energy from a sexual ejaculation and transfer it back into the person. This was a method the ancient Egyptians practiced, as to ‘so called’ achieve eternal life. It was since this practical use, that it became symbolic. Not sure where this person got her “facts”, from.

Not tryna be a dick, but if you wear earrings that say girl boss, it kinda implies that people can’t already tell, and that you have to notify them in order for them to recognize that you’re a girl boss. And if thats the case, well, it might be a basis to argue that you aren’t a girl boss at all because a girl boss wouldn’t feel the need to try and draw attention to their boss aura. For example, an attractive person wouldn’t feel the need to wear a shirt that says, “I’m very attractive/handsome/beautiful” because it would already be clear to the public at large. With all due respect, Egypt was part of the Middle East (in fact, it partially sits on the Asian continent), and genetic testing shows that the people of Ancient Egypt were not Black, nor White, they were… surprise surprise, Middle Eastern. They had no sub-saharan genes at all… and their genes are much closer to people of modern day Levant (ie. Syria, Lebanon, Iraq etc)… As a person from the Middle East myself, I find it disheartening to see both White and Black people trying to claim our heritage and culture as their own, you have your own countries, your own continents… Ancient Egyptians were not Black…. and no the Ankh does not need “melanin to activate it”… this claim is completely made up… nowhere in Ancient Egyptian writings do they make this claim… Middle Eastern people come in a whole range of spectrum of colours, from dark to pale, hence why Ancient Egyptian drawings depict them as such. Also, the Ankh doesn’t just represent the female reproductive system, it represents both the female and the male… hence “Life”…. and no each ancient Egyptian “God” did not have their own specific Ankh, they all had the same Ankh… and they were not “Gods”… another part which you do not properly understand. Ancient Egyptians did not refer to them as “Gods”. In fact Ancient Egyptian spirituality was technically monotheistic… they believed in a Source of all creation which they referred to as Neter and from Neter emanated the Neteru (Sekhmet, Osiris, Aset, Bastet etc etc).
